First... this isn't a brewpub. Their Kansas City location brews, but this location doesn't brew or ferment... they just serve beer from out of town.
House beers are so-so. Other chains have done it better (think Hops or Granite City).
Food is decent. Decor is kitchy.

Rather disappointing. I expected a public house atmosphere but it is definitely corporation owned kitsch. They cater to a nouveau crowd who probably never visited a public house in the British Isles or Germany so it's easy to sell them on the mediocre brews. Dinner menu is over priced and does not belong on a pub menu. I tried it and will not return. I wonder if one of the previous critics here knows that "chips" are the British word for fried potatoes.

The Mac and Cheese is awesome and so is the raspberry beer. The service was fast if you could get the server to come over. It is a busy and fun atmosphere.

Okay, the last review had me concerned but we tried it for lunch anyway. We did look at the prices and the dinner entrees are expensive at least for our out state standards. Our group had three of the brick oven pizzas and the Rio Grande and Kitchen Sink were very flavorful. The italian sausage added little flavor to the Italian Sausage and Peppers. The peppers were very good however. Other orders in our group included a pecan salad and beef au jus along with a fish and chips kids meal. The only complaint I heard was that there were fries for chips. The fish quality was excellent. The beer selection included the macro brew standards so I don't count those into selection. I sampled the IPA and Dry Stout. Both were solid stylistically. Perhaps they have stablized their beer standards since the last review.

Checked out the website because I was really in the mood for a steak. All their meat is priced daily because of the "volitile meat market" (first I've heard of that in Minnesota, and I have 2 friends that are butchers). They didn't list their hours on the website which is a bit of a pain. The place is a lil fancy but has pictures (and the menu) of old town Kansas folk which takes away from the upscale look they seem to be going for. Seems to be a place for local business people to come after work (lots of hot educated girls in their all black work outfits). We ordered the Fire Roasted Skillet Dip to start which was really good. Had the sampler of their 4 beers but wasn't impressed. The McCoy's Red Light Raspberry was different, a bit of a champaign and a beer with a slight hint of raspberries. McCoy's IPA was the best of the 4. It has a mild hoppy flavor but still isn't much to talk about. McCoy's English-Style Brown had an almost rotten sent and smell to it. Not much flavor and nothing like any English style brown I have ever had. The McCoy's Dry Stout was the worst. It was pitch black but had NO flavor. It tasted like a Guinness mixed with equal parts of water. I was not impressed with any of the beers they made and I'm not a Bud Light guy, I tour all the local brewpubs every weekend and will make special trips to check them out. So when it came time to order my Kansas City Strip Steak they informed me that they were all out of them. I settled for the $17.99 Pork Tender Loins. They didn't allow a subsitution of the masted potatos for fries (the meal didn't include anything but the pork and potatos). When the meal arived I was disappointed to find the portions were very small. It said LoinS on the menu but should have been Loin because there was less then 6oz of meat. The mash potatos consisted of a single ice cream scoop's worth and the pork was laid in slices (8 silver dollar sized) around it. Although the waitress didn't ask how I would like it cooked, it was rare with the center very pink and the outsides still fairly pink. I don't have any problem with that but some might. The pork was good but I couldn't justify the portioning for the price. My girlfriend ordered the "Big" salad which was no bigger then 2 fist sized portions of letuce and about a dozen pieces of chicken (quarter sized). All in all, the food wasn't great and the beer wasn't good. I won't be returning unless I wanna pick up a young hottie to take home for the night.
